Palm Plates

What are your palm plates made out of and are they really sustainable?
Our plates are made out of leaf sheaths which grow on areca palm trees in India. No trees are ever cut down, instead, the leaves naturally fall down and then are gathered, heat pressed into shape, and sanitized. The source material is renewable, and the process is 100% sustainable.

Are palm plates and palm oil made from the same trees?
No, our palm plates are made from areca palm trees in India, while palm oil is made from a different palm tree variety in Malaysia and Indonesia. No areca palm trees are cut down to make our plates.

Are palm plates strong and durable?
Yes! Our palm leaf plates are much thicker than disposable paper, bamboo, or plastic party plates, so they are much more durable. You can use knives and forks without worrying about breaking the plate.

Are palm plates reusable?
These plates are meant for single use. However, you can reuse them with dry foods that don’t leave residue.

Are palm plates dishwasher safe or hand washable?
These plates are not dishwasher safe. You can lightly hand wash them with a damp cloth.

Are palm plates microwavable or oven safe?
Yes, they are microwavable on high for up to 2 minutes, and are oven safe for up to 30 minutes at 350 degrees (make sure that there is at least 6 inches between the plates and the heat source).

How do I dispose of palm plates?
You can throw them into any regular trash or any backyard compost. They will naturally biodegrade in 5-8 weeks.

What can you fit on palm plates?
The 10″ plates can hold any large meal. The 8″ plates are great for smaller entrees. The 6″ plates are great for any desserts as well as appetizers. The 4" plates can fit bite sized portions or hors d’oeuvres.
